Description:
The Elizabeth Fry Society is a 27 bed shelter halfway house for federal and provincially sentenced women, known as Joyce Kope House.  We currently hold a 5 bed contract with CSC.  We also provide a day reporting centre for offenders who require extra support in the community.  All of our clients have access to the programs and services provided by the Elizabeth Fry Society, such as Anger Management, Substance Abuse, Healthy Relationships, and individual counselling.  The Elizabeth Fry Society has been contracted to provide community maintenance, women offenders’ substance abuse, and attitudes alternatives and associates for federally sentence individuals living in the community.

Residents Accepted: Adult women who are on Day Parole, Full Parole, Statutory Release, Temporary Absence Pass, Probation, or Bail.

Exclusions: Maple House does not restrict admission to the house unless the needs of the person are greater than the services offered.

Admission Procedure: Contact can be made through the Elizabeth Fry Society Counsellors and/or the case management team at Grand Valley Institution. Referrals can also be made through lawyers, Parole Officers, other counsellors and the women themselves. Prison visits are made every two weeks.

The Elizabeth Fry Society worker will meet with you, completes an intake form, assesses the applicant, and provides information about Maple House. The admission team makes the final decision about admission to Maple House. Usually all applicants are accepted.
